As the new Model Universe Champion, Florian Blume brought his commercial modeling talents to the contest stage for the first time. The 5'10", 175 lbs., 27 year old Swiss sports model does runway work in Milan, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Miami, New York and Johannesburg and has representation worldwide. So, why would a professional fashion model want to compete? "It looked like fun, so I dieted for a couple weeks and got into shape," Florian says. "I loved it and will be back. Model America in Las Vegas looks good to me."
'12 Model America Champions Kloe Rigaud & Tavi Castro were completely new to the sports model scene and yet won the show in their first year of competing. Both are college students and have breached the model scene after seeing what serious fitness training transformed their bodies and overall physical appearance. Says Tavi, "I have been studying aeronautical engineering in Holland, where I live. But, I caught myself sitting in class and day dreaming about doing something different. Well, not quiting school, but the courses are so boring and I just needed some diversity to my life. Well, here I am and who would have know." With over 150 sports models on stage, the victory for both Kloe and Tavi was amazing experience.
He may be new to the competitive sports model scene, but British real estate developer Ben Noy is definitely not new to the sports model scene. Already he's appeared on several Men's Health magazine covers, television host for the Playboy Channel, Gillette Shaving Foam and Sony Ericson campaign model, the star of multiple training DVD's and numerous other major entries on his impressive resume. Ben's first crack into the competitive fitness scene was last month at Model Scotland where he captured 3rd Place. But, he will be at Model Britain next month and expects to show the more seasoned, London based judges what a real professional sports model looks like.
Former Model America & Universe Top 5 Finalist Charles Justo was tagged by Russell Simmons to runway his new Argyle line at Miami Fashion Week. The 6'2", 200 lbs. sports model also will appear in Touchstone Pictures new flick, "The Surrogates" with Bruce Willis in Boston. Last week, he landed hand model gig for a major Columbian lotion company. Charles said laughingly, "Here I train, diet and keep myself in top shape all year for work and all these people wanted is to look at my hands?! The former Florida high school basketball star currently lives and works in Miami Beach but also auditions in New York and Los Angeles.
